Alright, so at this point I'm about to smash my brother's Xbox one with my gaming PC. This kid legit binge watches Netflix 24/7 and I cant even play a decent game of league without having my ping spike between 42-700 every two seconds. Is there any way to stop this at all? I'm so fed up at this point and he refuses to turn it off. You guys have any tips or tricks that I can do to the xbox or router that will limit the bandwidth or anything? I appreciate any help.

Thank you.

Solution
QoS doesn't work unless you can limit the bandwidth. You need to do one of two things

1) get more bandwidth
2) get a router/firewall that supports proper QoS

If you can, get a router that supports OpenWRT, that has real QoS and is dead simple to use, you just tell it how much bandwidth you have minus about 10%.

most routers will allow you to set bandwidth limits to devices so leave every other device unlimited and set his to 10-15MBPS or use QoS and set game traffic to the highest priority but smashing the Xbox is another reasonable solution

I've tried this. Currently I have a Linksys WRT160N, I've had it since like 2009. I dont see any option to limit the bandwidth in the settings, but there is a QoS setting. But when I set my computer to high priority, it dosnt really do much, and if anything I just lag more.
