BSOD after 30+ minutes of computer use, STOP CODE 0x04

Hello,

I'm new to these types of forums because I mainly rely on friends and locals to help me with this but everyone is busy and I'd rather get an exact answer from some people here rather than literally swapping out every part to find what the problem is.


I am also using BlueScreenView but I don't understand the codes for this to know what is the cause.


SEQUENCE OF SYMPTOMS:
First application I am on freezes, cursor is waiting (cursor freezes and resumes, then freezes again).
Windows Explorer freezes as well (turning white and then disappearing to only desktop wallpaper).
All application closes as if it were restarting.
Error windows pop up for applications saying they are being terminated: such as C++, security programs, browsers...
Cannot open anything else because they cannot be located.
BSOD. 🙁


My cousin suggests that my SSD is failing but how can I know for sure that's exactly the problem?
It's a good theory, yes, but could it just be the drivers/controllers or even the motherboard?

This has been going on for 3 days and I cannot use the computer no more than 30mins to an hour.
I have a lot of work to do with video editing and homework so if anyone could please help out. Thank you!

if not its more likely to be a software issue rather than hardware

Hmm... I'd have to try that out. The thing i hate about this is that i literally have to wait for it to crash...

But if it still crashes, what could the hardware problem be sourced at? The SSD?

If not, which software? People from another forum said it was Daemon Tools but I did unistall that and the problem still persists.

Even so, ERROR 0x04 says its a object termination, a hardware issue.

I went into safe mode and I stilled crashed with the same error.
I have also updated all my drivers.



My computer specs are:

Operating System - Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
CPU - Intel i7 3930K Sandy Bridge-E @ 3.20GHz
Motherboard - MSI X79A-GD65 (8D) (MS-7760)
Memory - 32722 MBs (32GBs) DDR3 RAM
GFX - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570
PSU - Antec High Current PRO 850w
SSD - Crucial M4 2.5in 128gb
HDD - Western Digital 2TB

There a new firmware (00F) for crucial m4 SSD. this what i got from the web:

Changes between version 0309 and 000F include the following changes:

Improved compatibility with certain SAS expanders and peripheral RAID cards.
Improved throughput stability under extremely heavy workloads.
Improved data protection in the event of unexpected, asynchronous power loss.

This firmware update is recommended for all drives currently in the field if the end user is experiencing any of these symptoms.

Did u tried to run memtest? check for loose cable connection?

Try a linux live disk and see what happens, if the system continues to act sporadically it means the problem isn't related to your ssd. I recommend a memory test and possibly a swapped out psu if you have one available. I had a very similar problem and it turned out to be my power supply, more often than not i find psu's generally are the cause of most random issues like this.

I also forgot to add that after the blue screen, computer reboots as normal. However, it doesn't reboot normally. I get text on the screen saying, PLEASE REBOOT AND SELECT A PROPER BOOT DEVICE.

I have to manually reboot to get out of the loop and I get into Windows normally.

I'm going go ahead and test out my PSU and possibly SATA cables for connection problems. In the end, reinstall Windows.

I have run memtest86 and reports no errors.

Bug Check 0xF4: CRITICAL_OBJECT_TERMINATION

This indicates that a process or thread crucial to system operation has unexpectedly exited or been terminated.

Could be many things. SSD firmware upgrades should be the first thing attempted [I've seen this happen with SSD's enough by now...]

RAM would be the next suspect, but memtest86 passed. Doesn't entirely rule out RAM though...

Just to update if anyone else searches google with keywords "bsod, after 30 minutes"

Had the exact same problem and exactly the same SSD.

Updating the firmware to newest version fixed the issue (for me)
