Recently, i have been getting BSoD with the error message "CLOCK_WATHDOG_TIMEOUT". This has only been happening in Fortnite and has only been happening recently. I cannot re-call it crashing during any other games, even more intense games such as Arma 3 and PUBG.

It is random when it happens, sometimes it happens an hour in, sometimes 5 minutes in.

PC Specs :

CPU : i5 6600K ( OC to 4.3GHz, this has been fine for about 8 months )
GPU : GTX 670 4GB
RAM : 2 X 4GB HyperX DDR4 2400MHz
PSU : 700W Aerocool Integrator
HDD : 1 TB WD Blue
CASE : NZXT S340 Elite
CPU Cooler : Hyper 212 LED

also have a few cosmetics such as NZXT RGB fans etc.

I think this may be the problem, but i dont understand what this means or how to fix it

Also, this may be useful

In "System Issues" there was the error CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT, i updated my GPU drivers and thought i had fixed it but about an hour and a half into a Fortnite session, my PC crashed

- Also i don't think it has anything to do with CPU temps as they are usually quite low in the 50-60 while under load.

- GPU can get quite hot, but i don't think the problem is with the GPU

Any advice or solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

*edit*

Just been messing round with overclocks as i thought voltage was too low.

My CPU is hitting 90+ Degrees in stress tests such as Prime95 and Intel Burn Test. My OC is only at 4.3 GHz with 1.235V. I don't understand why this is happening.

*update*

Changed to 4.1 GHz and still similar temps on Prime 95. Under load my CPU Cooler has an RPM of ~1700, is that too low?

These are my temps whilst in game

Solution
CLOCK_WATHDOG_TIMEOUT
In short indicates a failed Overclock.
I overclocked my friends 6600k to 4.8GHz with 1.39v.
You definitely have more headroom for voltage so i'd just add that until it's stable.

so what should i do about it? is there a way i can achieve the same performance with good temperatures? maybe upgrade my cpu cooler to a x62 or something?

I'm having a similar problem. My CPU is stable up to 4.8GHz but when I run stress tests it shoots up to 100c. Nothing else makes temps go that high so I just leave it at 4.8GHz. No crashes or anything. No overheating in games or even while rendering a video. I think maybe delidding might help us both. That's because I'm on a great AIO liquid cooler a Corsair H105 and a 4770K that I had that was delidded didn't suffer the same issue. It wouldn't overclock as high but it ran at even higher voltages and the temps were stable.

I would definitely be too scared about killing my CPU to delid it myself, maybe I would consider someone else more experienced doing it for me. Any other options ?
