BSOD: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR EQUAL caused by ntoskrnl.exe

I've been getting these crashes for the past few months. I've been assuming that my GPU drivers have been causing them, but even after several clean installs, the problem persists. Another note is my system ONLY crashes when it is idle, it never has when I'm using it.

Alright I've uninstalled MSI afterburner for the past week and all the crashes went away, so you were correct. But say I want to overclock my gpu and set up a custom fan curve again, what exactly am I supposed to do? I have a GTX 1070 and the temps never go over 70c.
