Hi,

Been trying to figure this out for a couple of days now. Getting intermittent BSODs when gaming but consistently when watching youtube videos. It's weird as I expected it to be the other way around as gaming would take a much larger toll on the system.

Updated all drivers. Ran memory check no errors.

Minidump can be found here:

Could anyone help me out?

Thanks!

Solution
use the one from the MSI website. if there was a bug in the actual hardware of the motherboard the custom driver will contain a fix that will not be in the default intel driver. it looks like the MSI website has more current drivers.

Did you install any new hardware/software recently?

What is your hardware (cpu, gpu, ram, psu) and Operating system(windows/linux 32bit/64bit) etc?

Also have you overclocked any of these components cpu, gpu, ram?

Hi!
I kinda bought a new mobo + cpu + gpu. So these are new. None are overclocked except for the video card which is an overclocked version of MSI.

Specs are
windows 7 ultimate x64
intel i7 4790
msi b85-g43 gaming
msi gtx 970 gaming twin frozr v 4gb gddr5
600w psu

What is the model of the power supply? 600 watts should be more than enough though but still...
EDIT: Additionally:

Besides the BSOD have you noticed ANYTHING out of the ordinary with the pc since you have upgraded i.e. graphical artifacts like red squares or stripes on the screen, does the area around the pc seem hotter?

Can you also download cpu-z(http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z/versions-history.html) and gpu-z(http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/) and run both of them. Before doing the following:

1. Run Prime95 http://www.mersenne.org/download/ keep an eye on cpu-z for the max temperatures
2.Also can you please download and run the Unigine Valley/Heaven benchmark and then post what temperatures(from gpu-z) your gtx970 is reaching (keep in mind that it is likely this will BSOD your pc based on what you are saying).

One or the other will likely BSOD your pc I would say the heaven benchmark based on what you are saying.

A couple of things could cause the BSOD and usually it is either caused by a bad driver, hardware overheating, or power supply cannot handle the load being put on it.

it's a Aerocool Strike-X 600W 80+ Bronze PSU.

BTW, i tried to do some elimination and removed the GPU and extra memory sticks. And left only the mobo, cpu and 1 good stick of ram and still running into the same error(using youtube to crash).

Sounds like it is cpu or driver related then can you please read the above edit and run 1. prime95 and cpu-z and note max temperature reached.

Made it run for awhile and temps ran up to 97C without crashing. Screenshot

Checked drivers and MSI live update says they're up to date.

97c for a haswell running prime95 is actually normal as prime95 will place maximum stress on the cpu.

I know you said that you ran the pc with only 1 good ram module but can you please also run memory stress test MemTest86+ http://hcidesign.com/memtest/download.html for around 30 mins and let me know if the pc BSODs?

If you ran prime95 in blend mode then it should already have stress tested ram, and dont need to run MemTest86+

Next step is to work out if any drivers or software is causing issues:
1.Try a fresh install of the latest Nvidia drivers just be sure to check "Perform a clean install" checkbox in the installer. If you arent using 3d vision then you should also uncheck those options as well.
2.You could also try a different web browser like google chrome portable(http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/google_chrome_portable) and then browse to youtube see if you get a bsod.
Sometimes hardware acceleration in flash player can cause bsods as well it doesnt explain your games bsod though but if you want to test youtube without hardware acceleration, go here:
http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html and in the flash player right click in the player > Settings > Uncheck Enable Hardware acceleration. Restart browser just in case and goto youtube video that usually causes bsod
3.Open msconfig(Windows Key+R type msconfig) and in the general tab select selective startup uncheck Load startup items press ok to reboot. Try launching youtube or playing a game still bsod?
4.The BSODs could also be caused by a failing psu, if you have a different psu you could also try that as well.
5.Run chkdsk on your harddrive(do not try running chkdsk against an SSD though)
6.If none of the above works you could try downloading a copy of linux burning it to a dvd and then booting from that and try accessing youtube to see if that causes a bsod.
If it does then it is definetly a hardware issue.

Try the above first let me know how you go.

overall, I would be looking for power fluctuations to the CPU as the cause of all of these failures.
check the BIOS for updates, correct voltages. Make sure the graphics system has proper power to any external connectors or your GPU can cause your CPU to get a brown out condition that causes the CPU to misread bits, then traps the error and call this bugcheck.

Also, update your CPU chipset drivers you have microcode updates from 2010 install from intel :
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=20775
these will have microcode fixes for your CPU even if your BIOS does not have them. (fixes known bugs in CPU)
- be sure to update the xbox usb driver to one that does not corrupt system memory

(assume you don't have a hacked version of windows, some hacked version remap the error codes to bugcheck 0x124 to avoid detection of the hack)
---------------------

forth bugcheck 0x124 called by CPU
Error : Internal unclassified (Proc 0 Bank 4)

third bugcheck also 0x124 called by the CPU
Error : Internal unclassified (Proc 5 Bank 4)

===============================
second bugcheck was also 0x124 raised by the CPU
CPU got a internal fatal error: Internal unclassified (Proc 3 Bank 4)
(often cause by voltage fluctuations to the CPU)

I would reset the BIOS back to defaults and reconfigure. (or update BIOS if there is a update)
make sure your graphics card is getting proper power, and blow out dust from GPU and power supply

----------------------
first one is a bugcheck 0x124 raised by the CPU
most often a common overclocking problem, system up time was only 2 mins
cpu did not look like it was overclocked
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz Current Speed 3600MHz

your drivers look pretty good:
you might consider removing
C:\Program Files (x86)\MSI\Live Update\NTIOLib_X64.sys Tue Oct 19 23:45:49 2010

and I think there was a memory corruption bug caused by this driver version:
\SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\xusb21.sys Thu Aug 13 15:10:17 2009

I think there was a updated driver dated in 2012 that fixed the problem.

your BIOS date

BIOS Release Date 07/18/2014
BIOS Version V10.2
Manufacturer MSI
Product B85M GAMING (MS-7823)
Version 2.0

should be ok, but you should check at the MSI website and see if there is a update you actually need.

based on the symptoms, i would think you have a power problem. (assuming you don't have a stuck fan or overheating problem)

I will take a quick look at the other bugchecks
