Question BSOD: System Thread Exception Not Handled, Wdf01000.sys failed?

Got a blue screen for the first time saying Wdf01000.sys had failed. When it failed I was loading into a game, got the bsod about 15 seconds in. Before playing that I was playing another more intensive game and had no issues.

Before I got the bsod, I heard the Windows sound for something disconnecting like a USB device. I've done a /sfc and /dism scan and it's come back with no corrupted files, and I'm currently doing a virus scan.

However, I've done some research and apparently it relates to a corrupted driver? Also, when I'm loading into the game my USB WiFi adapter will sometimes just stop working and I'll lose internet, but it's usually resolved when I rejoin. Is it possible that this going faulty could cause a bsod? I'm really stuck for ideas on how to figure out the problem, please help. Thanks.

Can you follow option one on the following link - here - and then do this step below: Small memory dumps - Have Windows Create a Small Memory Dump (Minidump) on BSOD - that creates a file in c windows/minidump after the next BSOD

  1. Open Windows File Explore
  2. Navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump
  3. Copy the mini-dump files out onto your Desktop
  4. Do not use Winzip, use the built in facility in Windows
  5. Select those files on your Desktop, right click them and choose 'Send to' - Compressed (zipped) folder
  6. Upload the zip file to the Cloud (OneDrive, DropBox . . . etc.)
  7. Then post a link here to the zip file, so we can take a look for you . . .
