Specs:
i5 760
Asus p7p55d-e lx
Samsung 1 tb harddrive
Seagate 500gb harddrive (Windows and everything)
Amd 7950 hd (sapphire)
2x4 gb Ram

So my problem is this, my pc used to do this random restarts like it would just power off and then restart, i found out it was the ram so i used the MemOk feature and everything was fine. I turned on my pc and everything was working was playing a couple of games until suddenly i got a crash in my pc and i had my very first BSOD, i restarted the pc and it wouldnt detect the hard drive, so i presumed that the hard drive was dead, so i tried to install windows 7 and for the last setup it does a restart and then guess what, the harddrive gets detected and boots like normally.

It works for now but in the future i want to know what is causing the problem, and how to recover my files if the hard drive does die, cause i have already backed up my files.

p.s: i know some of the parts are ancient but im broke ahaha, ty :)

Solution
Checkdisk is a Windows function. Go into Windows Explorer and Right Click on the Drive then go to properties, tools and check now.

Seatools you can download from http://www.seagate.com/au/en/support/downloads/item/seatools-win-master/
