[SOLVED] BSOD whenever I am in desktop for a short while, or after exiting a game ?

Hello, i have been having an issue for about a month now on my laptop, for some reason whenever i am not playing a videogame that uses the gpu or stay in the desktop for a short while im going to get a blackscreen (probably since im using hdmi for a bigger monitor) and if i were to use the actual laptop screen id get a VIDEO DXGRNL FATAL ERROR, I even tried formatting resettting the pc and using ddu on the nvidia gpu but no luck, the issue still persists, also regarding the bsod i actually installed a blue screen analyzer and the dump file have watchdog.sys nvlkdm(something like that) and dxgkrnl.sys appear as red everyime there is a bsod (i deleted the dump file in disk cleanup but i will attempt to get a bsod again for the dump file if necessary).

The fix is basically restarting the computer but it is pretty frustrating to do that after leaving a game or just wanting to stay in browser which i can't due to the bsod. Also back then i had a bsod whenever i played a game but i think the ddu fixed it so it is in a better state i guess, any help would be appreciated, also do note i do not get a bsod whenever the integrated graphics is used but id rather use my gtx 1650 i had disabled auto restart on bsod so windows don't disable my gtx on bsod, again any help would be appreciated!

Can you follow option one on the following link - here - and then do this step below: Small memory dumps - Have Windows Create a Small Memory Dump (Minidump) on BSOD - that creates a file in c windows/minidump after the next BSOD

1. Open Windows File Explore
   
2. Navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump
   
3. Copy the mini-dump files out onto your Desktop
   
4. Do not use Winzip, use the built in facility in Windows
   
5. Select those files on your Desktop, right click them and choose 'Send to' - Compressed (zipped) folder
   
6. Upload the zip file to the Cloud (OneDrive, DropBox . . . etc.)
   
7. Then post a link here to the zip file, so we can take a look for you . . .

watchdog.sys, nvddklm.sys and dxgkrnl.sys are enough clues for me to know its Nvidia drivers

hm, first of all thank you so much for responding me i am so desperate for a fix so i appreciate it, Also i did try to reinstall the nvidia graphics card from the laptop website since i had to it's a max q, so i went to the website and got the vga for my model and it still did not fix the issue

Also while trying to compress (zipped) through windows built in function, i get a windows error saying (File not found or no read permission), And yeah if it any help do note after i enabled auto restart the next bsod i get windows will auto restart and not detect the nvidia gpu thus forcing me to use the intel integrated gpu, i found a way to counter it by booting to bios and going back (then again the issue returns and i get a bsod sooner or later) or just wait couple of hours and then reboot.

which version of win 10 are you on? dump file version shows 19041 which is 20H1, but I have a feeling it just hasn't changed for a few versions of win 10 now.

yeah i did try to move the dmp files to my desktop and do it from there but it still says the error

alright thank you, Also i have done ddu on nvidia gpu card and restarted, windows update is detecting the GPU (Nvidia-display-26.21.14.4333) but for some reason

download is stuck on 10%? no clue what's happening

Alright so windows installed the nvidia driver, now im just messing around ill let you know if anything out of the ordinary happens, also again thanks for your support i appreciate it i have having the issue for so long now

Yep, after couple of minutes messing around using the gpu the issue still persists, got a video dxgkrnl fatal error bsod and after the auto restart the nvidia gpu is not detected, I'm gonna try to find a way to zip the minidump and send it to you through media fire

alright so after a while of messing with the properties of the dump file and taking ownership i managed to zip the file, please update me and tell me if the file i sent you is valid

Yeah thats true, usually i just use the laptop with hdmi off a big monitor and just use it from there so i assume it always runs the hdmi display off the nvidia gpu, but yeah after the bsod auto restart i can't have hdmi and even if i goto bios or restart after couple of hours the loop of video dxgkrnl fatal error returns which is pretty frustrating

EDIT: also if it can be any use, usually when i connect it to hdmi i just close the laptops lid (i made closing the lid do nothing in settings dont worry about that) and continue gaming etc, and it usually just black screen and doesn't show the bsod from the big monitor i connected hdmi through (but the whole input and pc freezes so i gotta restart just like having the bsod) unlike if i use the laptop monitor which shows me the bsod and then disables my nvidia gpu if i do have auto restart after bsod
and also i use usb mouse and keyboard
( though i doubt it can affect the issue im having but it's still wise to note that i guess, forgive me i lack a lot behind on stuff regarding computers and tech in general.)

The nvlddmkm.sys file is a NVIDIA graphics card driver. There are a few things you can do to fix this problem. First off, try a full uninstall using DDU in Safe Mode then re-install the driver (more information). Or try getting the latest version of the driver. Drivers can be found here: http://www.nvidia.com/ or you can allow Windows Update to download the driver for you, which might be a older/better version.

Alright thanks for the help, Though if anyone decides to help me do note that i did try uninstalling through driver uninstaller and get the windows drivers, regarding 3 recent drivers i don't know how to do that because i have a gtx 1650 max Qdesign so idk if it will detect since nvidia doesnt have any option for max Qdesign
