Hey everyone,

So I've been using Vegas Pro for over 10 years. I just recently upgraded from Vegas Pro 14 since I got a new GPU. I was having compatibility issues with my B580 and Vegas Pro 14. I wanted a version that would support Intel QSV so my renders would be faster. Please note that I never experienced this issue with my previous GPU in Vegas Pro 14. This issue started after installing my new card.

Anyway, anytime I select "Render As" and try to render my timeline as an Intel QSV MP4, I get the BSOD. Everything starts fine. In fact, most my renders get to around 90% before the failure occurs. I've got GPU Assisted Rendering turned on, and the program recognizes my B580 card.

I checked the DMP file and it says that "Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer" and the cause of the crash is dxgkrnl.sys.

I upgraded my GPU from an RX 590, and I did use DDU before I installed my new card. I'm not on the current driver, since the current driver causes screen artifacting in some scenarios. I'm on the one before the lastest, so it's still pretty new.

I'm also able to encode video in HandBrake using Intel QSV and that works fine. I've successfully finished renders in Davinci Resolve without any issues, and I'm able to game in 2K and 4K without any issues. I've also ran several benchmarks without issues, so it seems to be limited to Vegas Pro.

Another interesting thing is that if I turn off GPU Assisted Rendering and just let my CPU handle the project, everything works fine. So it's definitely related to either my GPU or trying to render using Intel QSV.

Has anyone else had this problem? Did you manage to find a solution to this problem? Since I've been using Vegas Pro so long, I'd like to keep editing in that software. It has all the features I need, and even allows me to create disc image files and burn Blu-rays. These are features I use often, so they're important.

EDIT: I apologize, I left out some important info when I made this post. I'm going to add that here:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X
CPU cooler: Scythe Fuma 2
Motherboard: Gigabyte Aorus Elite B540
Ram: 32 GB DD4 3200Mhz
SSD/HDD: 2TB Samsung 970 Evo Plus
GPU: Intel Arc B580
PSU: EVGA 600 BR, 600 W 80+ Bronze, and it's about 6 years old.
Chassis: Fractal Design Pop Air
OS: Windows 10 Pro
Monitor: HP 22er 1080p

Hope this additional info is helpful. Thanks!

Did you use DDU to remove all GPU drivers(intel, AMD and Nvidia) in Safe Mode, prior to swapping out your GPU's? Manually installing the latest GPU driver sourced from Intel's support site for your GPU in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator.

When posting a thread of troubleshooting nature, it's customary to include your full system's specs. Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.

I've also ran several benchmarks without issues, so it seems to be limited to Vegas Pro.
One issue with Intel is due to the fact that it's new(compared to it's competitors) you will encounter hiccups as stated above. Intel did encounter a lot of criticism from reviewers, namely the driver division as the card was a potential challenger to AMD and Nvidia.
