hi im planning on building a gaming pc. should i wait for the broadwell cpu? should i go with 980 or go for the gtx 700 series cards because they are going down in price
OK so as for spending around 1000 to upgrade then what are my options
If you are reusing your SSD and HDD as well you can try this. You can fit a 980 and keep it around $1000, I just don't think the 980 is worth $200 more, but it is your call. The 970 will max out every game at 1080p.
My recommendation. Just get the current cpu. It will last a long time as it is. However, if you want to you can wait. I used SLI 970's but I would just get the one and add the other later if you need it.

Dont skimp on the motherboard, its the basis for the system, you cant build a house without a foundation.
Since you specified that you had an FX processor, your motherboard cant support intel processors.
