I am building a budget comp and im still undecided. What I will be building will either be I5 k or fx 8350 with asrock mobo My question is about the graphics. I can afford an 7770 ghz edition amd or the nvidia 650 ti. I know the 7770 is better gpu but I am planning on upgrading max 2 months. Should I buy the 650 and use it as a physx? or just buy the 7770? What would i Gain with physx?

Solution
If you're planning on buying a graphics for just 2 months and then upgrade again, then I would suggest you don't buy anything at all right now. You can save a little more money and go for an AMD 7850/7870 or Nvidia 660/660ti.

Btw, the graphics requirement depends on the games you're planning to play.

lol I thought about that =) im an eager beaver. I am finally upgrading my old core 2 duo with AGP graphics and ddr 1 memory. Kinda excited the games I will be playing wont be alot but I plan on playing skyrim bf3, diablo 3 and the new Elder scrolls online when it releases.

I would get the 650ti over the 7770 or better yet save up and grab the 7850

the reason why the cpu question this day and age is now relevant again is due to the fact that this is the point in time where theres a console generation change. Expect the 8350 from this point on to have alot of gains due to multi core optimization. Crysis 3 was only the first step(it showed that 8350>3770k). with sony basically confirming that it has an 8 core apu installed, just about all AAA titles will be core optimized. CPU choice now is a debate against assuming that games will be core optimized or not. the hardware is there, its the game devs on the consoles job, which is more or less the gamble.

as for the 650ti vs 7770 debate, get the 650ti. I personally dont think the 7770 is worth crossfiring. if anything if you could delay choice, I would look into the AMD bonaire 7790 being released(date unknown) which will be the first experimental GCN 2.0 card going to be placed between the 7770 and the 7850.

I understand about you being eager about upgrading your gaming pc. I was in the same state about a month ago. Check my signature below for the components I have built my new gaming pc with. You'll notice that I'm still using my old Nvidia 8600GT. I can afford to buy either of the cards you have mentioned but I'm still holding on to my old GPU, saving some more and planning to buy either the MSI GTX 660 or the MSI 7850 power edition, simple because they have more juice in them and they'll serve my gaming needs at least for the next 2years.

I suggest you do the same. If you hurry and buy now, you'll regret it later.

I have decided that I am just going to wait... I going to save up with what I saved and buy a 7970 in 2 months I guess. I've waited this long not to mention new haswell will be out and the new apu's from AMD will see how all that works out.
