This is a build i have been working on, and i'm trying to trim the fat. I prefer to keep the CPU and GPU the same but all suggestions are welcomed. I need the MOBO to have 6gb SATA, and a case that can fit the CPU cooler, video card, and able to run wires behind the MOBO.

Also i'm going with the base price since it's a little more realistic.

Admirable
get a real PSU from someone like SeaSonic, XFX, Antec or EVGA B2/G2.
also, get windows 8.1. if you dont like the look, then just get the pack which makes it look like windows 7.
get a better case, something like the NZXT s340 is nice.

I was able to save some money by going to a 280, so I added an ssd.

By no means am I bashing AMD, I am just saying intel is an option too :)

Honestly a r9 280 will perform better in most titles than a gtx 960, and it oc very well, and its cheaper. Tht extra gig of vram will help in future too. Also the PSU!!! Why!! The Antec HCG 620m is about 3 dollars cheaper right now and so much better in quality, and its semi-modular! CPU if you can afford it get an i5, if not get an fx 6300+gigabyte ud3p, or go cheaper with a g3258+ any h81 mobo that has x16 lane pcie and upgrade when its needed (Skylake)
