I want to build a gaming PC with a budget of $400 and I have these options for the CPU & GPU.

-x4 860k or Fx 6300 (15$ more)

-RX 460 or GTX 750ti (About same price)

Which of these options is best??
And if neither, could someone suggest a better one??

None of those.

Solution

How is the i3 better than the x4 860k?

In all ways possible. It's about twice as powerful where it counts most for gaming(single threaded performance) and it has hyperthreading, so it works like a quad core, even if it's a dual core. So it basically wipes the floor with the 860k. unfortunately, Intel is years ahead these days adn it is a very bad idea toinvest in that old and dead AMD platform. We shall hope that when AMD Zen comes out, it will be a different story.

Yeah I'll wait until October to see what the AMD Zen has to offer. And then I'll see if there are any deals on Black Friday.

Zen is coming out in Q1 2017 at the earliest.

Really I thought it was coming out before the holiday period?

There were roumours, AMD will be handing samples left end right by the end probably, but it will not be available for sale this year.

Ok. Thanks.

Looking at the processors your build will be under $500 so i will suggest to take a look at this $450 build http://www.tekgrains.com/build-gaming-pc-450-ready-bf1-2016-2017/

Won't the G4400 bottleneck the 470??

Ofcourse it will. Severly. He hass no idea what hes talking about. Read some stuff onli and thinks he knows what's what.
If you are buying either go woth the build i listed or, if you have a bigger budget, state it so i can make you an even better build.

Yeah, but I'll get my PC on X'mas, probably. Thanks tho!
