Hi~~~Ya!
Please help me to decide on a budget Non-OC CPU.
I pretty much decided to get Nvidia GTX 960, just need a matching processor that can run CS:GO at 1920x1080, 144Hz. I also intend to record gameplay with ShadowPlay and occassionally do some video editting at 720p~1080p.
Options are limited in my area.
Skylake
($179) i3-6100 / ($279) i5-6400
+ ($159) ASRock Fatal1ty B150 Gaming K4
+ ($89) 2x4GB DDR4 2400MHz 15-15-15
Old-gen
($549) Bundle: Xeon E3 1231 V3 + MSI H97 Gaming 3 + 2x4GB DDR3 1866MHz 10-11-10
Which combination gives me the most bang for the bucks?
I was thinking to go with i3 skylake because it seems to be very capable for a $100 less. According to passMark, i3-6100 scores 5512 while i5-6400 scores 6525. A 15% performance drop, IMO, which is acceptable.
Also the Xeon bundle is very tempting. i7 performance, non-OC, no iGPU crap, perfect for my need. But LGA 1151 socket and DDR4 might just save me a few hundred if I decide to upgrade in 2-3 years, which is very likely given that AMD Zen is gonna shake up the market at the end of this year.
What do you think? Please share your thought. Much appreciated.
