I am in need of a new motherboard for my new i7 9700k. I am planning to overclock as far as I can get without having thermals spike with my beefy air cooler. Needs to be dependable but I do not need so many extra features. (I am not going to sli, don't need RGB, could care less about video ports, etc) I would love to get it around 100 but the max is 175. I do not need a ton of M.2 or anything like that, 0,1 or even 2 is just fine ( I don't mind just using a sata cable to connect the good old ssds.
At the moment I am leaning towards an MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Edge AC LGA1151 but it is still a bit pricy for me at $175

Another secondary question: The i7 9700k just dropped to $365. Should I stick with this or switch to one of the new ryzen cards? I am switching motherboards either way, so I am not sure which would be the best all-around option. I am heavily leaning towards intel because I have an Nvidia and have always run intel.

Current build: 16gb ram, Superclocked 1060 6gb (Hit the lottery with how much I can pull from this thing), i5 6400 (you can tell I need an upgrade) 500gb ssd, 1tb hdd, 600w
Also working on a lower end custom desk build for more non-gaming utilities.

Thanks a bunch in advance.

A 9700k for 365 is a very good deal. I would honestly strongly consider the I7 if your are only gaming, however still go ryzen for everything else.

Unfortunately, the I7 is quite thirsty and I wouldn't go with an ultra cheap board. This board looks like the VRMs and heat syncs are pretty decent:
