Budget Gaming Monitor

Hi. So I'm planning out a build for a future build and I'm trying to get all the parts planned out. I'm having trouble with the monitor which is my issue. I found good 60hz 1080p monitors but I'm really hoping for a 1440p or 120hz monitor. I have a GTX 970 as the Graphics card so it SHOULD be able to handle most games at 120FPS at 1440p (Im not gonna play too many super intense titles like Witcher or Battlefield). Does anyone have any good recommendations? My budget is about 150$. IS there anything around that price point or am I being a little too hopeful. (P.S I'm not TOO worried about tiny response times but 5ms is kinda my limit)

Too hopeful. You can get 24in 1080p 60Hz for that but not 1440p 120Hz.

1440p @ 120hz. is premium hardware, not cheap stuff. At your budget 1080p @ 60 hz. is about the best you can hope for.

144 or 120hz monitors are too expensive for your budget, same as the 1440p monitors. The best you can get for this budget is 50~76 Hz monitors such as the BenQ GL2460HM Black 24" 2ms monitor. It offers 12,000,000:1 (1000:1) contrast ratio and Built-in Speakers. The price is in canadian on this webiste wich is about 150$ us.

Thank you everybody for replying! In addition to that, would you recommend going for something less priced now, then investing in something more expensive in the future? I hope to get a dual monitor setup eventually.

I'd get an Asus VE248H now. And later get another one. Or even 2 more.

Just the issue with that is there aren't enough actual HDMI ports on the GPU. I would rather have something with displayport on there so that I could actually get that many.
