What ultra-budget GPU is compatible in a Dell Optiplex 390 with an i3-2120, 8Gb ram, and a EVGA 430W PSU? I want to spend less than $50 but also be able to play GTA 5. Ideally I would like a 4Gb GPU but that might push me over my budget.

Find a used 750 Ti online. Something like http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX750TI-1GB-DDR5-192Bit-PCI-Express-Video-Graphics-Card-US-/302228424703?hash=item465e37c7ff:g:mScAAOSw32lYqGM~

Your i3 2120 will be the weakest link.

I would absolutely not buy a "new" GTX 750ti if it's at that price as there are a ton of dodgy GPUs being sold as new for bargain basement prices on eBay. Like the one pictured in the link above is quite obviously fake, looking not even remotely like a 750ti PCB, has an SLI connector (the 750tis do not), and most of the specs being suspiciously off for a 750ti.

But that card does exist. Quick Google shows it does. The seller has a 100% rating. Too good to be true huh? Even with eBay's money back guarantee in place. Bad idea.

Don't completely disagree with you.

You see a ton of these - they use a flashed BIOS. If that's a real 750ti, I'm Scarlett Johansson.

An actual 750ti with that PCB and those specs does *not* exist, you simply won't find them outside of dodgy eBay offerings.

We constantly have to deal with a plethora of posts of people falling for these ripoffs.
