Approximate Purchase Date: I can purchase now, but will probably continue research until the end of June.
Budget Range: I am trying to go sub $400, but right now I am at about $450 without shipping.
System Usage from Most to Least Important: Internet, schoolwork/word processing, streaming video.
Parts Not Required: keyboard, mouse, monitor, OS
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Does not matter to me, but it seems there is no choice but NewEgg.
Country of Origin: Tampa, FL. or USA if that is what you mean.
Parts Preferences: I have been leaning towards the popularly reliable brands to complement an AMD processor. Seems to be any brand that starts with an A- AMD, Asus, Antec, ..., but I am here for advice.
Overclocking: This is my first build ever, so that might be asking a little much, but I am open to it.
SLI or Crossfire: I do not think this will be necessary or in my budget at this point, but I would like to perhaps have the option to add another video card.
Monitor Resolution: Plan on buying a 30"-36" TV/Monitor to use, but that is outside of the scope of my advice request at this point.
Additional Comments: Quiet and energy efficient is something that I am considering, but not at the expense of too much cost.
Here is where I am at, but I am not really set on too much other than the price. No gaming other than some free internet games when I get a little bored during some HW or writing a paper. Definitely needs to have an HTPC type element to it so I can watch movies and possibly add a TV tuner later to use with a 30-something inch Vizio or whatever. Seemed like a good idea to have USB 3.0 and SATAIII 6 Gbit/s along with plenty of video and audio outputs. Anyways:
Antec NSK 4482B Case w/ PSU
AMD Athlon II X4 645
Asus M4A89GTD PRO/USB3
4GB Crucial RAM (Maybe 6GB would work a little better? I feel the least educated about RAM and I am not even sure what type I need like number of pins or 1066 or 1333 or all that.)
Seagate Barracuda ST3500413AS 500GB
Lite-On iHDS118 48X + 18X SATA DVD Drive (considered a BD reader combo drive here, but not important enough for the cost difference I saw.)
Again, this is my first build, so any advice probably won't hurt.
