I need to build a 500 GFLOPS PC and the following is my idea. It is for scientific calculation and the arithmetic power is important.

1. 2 CPU Xeon E5-2690 which has theoretical 371 GFLOPS

2. I do not which motherboard can put these 2 CPU together so that it has more than 500 GFLOPS

3. 1 256 G SSD and 1 T SATA hard disk.

4. I like to use Windows 8.1 as OS as the program I am using is MATLAB.

Any suggestion to my logic.

Thanks guy!

I'm sorry to say that, as per Mathworks website (http://www.mathworks.com/products/matlab/choosing_hardware.html#_Graphics_Processing_Unit_1), Matlab doesn't support AMD cards for computing tasks, only CUDA enabled Nvidia cards.

Anyone has experience to use Jacket to activate the ATI - GPU card which can be used for Matlab. It seems this is another option. I need to change code anyway in Matlab to use the GPU calculation function.

If I dump my Radeon R9290X which is very good in terms of GLOPS as it has FP32 5632 (single precision floating point and FP64 704 (double precision floating point) at a relative cheap cost of US$650.00.

Due to Matlab problem which do not support ATI GPU, the GeForce GTX Titan Black is the closest as it has FP32 5645 and FP64 1881 but the price is nearly double $1,250.00.

Guys - please give me suggestion which one I should use to obtain more than 500 GLOPS.

If you have to use Nvidia and need FP 64 your other option is the Titan (not the Titan black), which you should be able to pick up for cheaper now.
