Hi all!
While I work in the IT industry, I haven't actually built a PC in the last 10 years, so I need a bit of an advice. I have been doing some research, but would really appreciate your help.
I will mainly use the PC with my sim rig (racing sims with Assetto Corsa Competizione being the most demanding hardware-wise, I assume). Other than that, I will do normal desktop stuff (web browsing, etc) and maybe a bit of programming and video editing, but only as secondary purposes. On my sim rig, I have a 1080p 144Hz monitor (LG 27GL650F). I won't use (don't even have the space for) triple screens or VR. Obviously, I would ideally want to get over 144fps on most titles, or at least definitely over 60fps on the most demanding ones, always speaking at 1080p, of course. Will add another monitor for desktop use, probably an LG 24GN600.
I don't think it makes sense to post budget, because I'm in Argentina, where the prices and completely different (a lot more expensive, unfortunately) than in the US. But I will list the parts I'm thinking of, so you will get an idea.
Processor: I would most likely go with a Ryzen 7 5800x. The 5600x would probably be more than enough considering the rest of the build, but racing sims are some of the most CPU demanding games due to physics, number of cars on track, etc. Please let me know if I'm wrong.
CPU Cooler: Will probably go with an air cooler like Cooler Master 212 Hyper, rather than an AIO, unless you suggest otherwise.
Motherboard: B550 or X570 chipsets as I want an M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD. From what I've seen, X570 is not worth the price difference, do you agree? If so, which B550 motherboard brand/model would you recommend? Unless it comes with new BIOS, I probably need one with BIOS flashback feature, since I don't have any older Ryzen CPUs to flash it with.
Memory: Should I go with a 2x 8 GB or 2x 16 GB kit? Which brands do you recommend? Which memory speed, 3600MHz?
Storage: I would want at least 1 TB of quick storage, was thinking about the WD Black SN750 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD. Maybe I could add a normal 2.5' SATA SSD as secondary storage.
GPU: My options here are a 3060 or a 3060 Ti. 3070 and better are above budget. Which one would you pick? Which brands/models do you recommend? I won't use it for mining, so LHR models are ok.
Case: I would want to go with a budget mid-tower with good airflow and decent build quality. What do you think of the Lian Li Lancool 205 Mesh, for example? Which others should I consider?
PSU: 650W? 750W? 80+ Gold? Which brands do you recommend? Seasonic?
Thank you for your help, any advice is really appreciated!
