I'm building a friend of mine a computer for around $850. I've got the parts list made, I just figured I'd ask you guys before I went ahead and ordered, make sure I'm not doing anything stupid.

Machine will be used for gaming and light video editing.

I'll get a build up in a second here:

AMD Athlon II X3 450 and Gigabyte 870 MB W/USB 3 and SATA 6GB/S $166
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.524280
For the same price you were paying for the processor alone you now get an extra core on the CPU and a better MB. Not to mention the newer technology.

Mushkin Blackline 4GB 1333 CL8 $80
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226101&cm_re=DDR3_1333_4GB-_-20-226-101-_-Product

Antec 300 Illusion case and OCZ600MXS PSU $125
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.523606
A nicer better cooled case with a PSU that will be easier to work with. The 750TX was massive overkill for the build.

Cooler Master Hyper 212 cooler $30

You don't have to buy one at all unless overclocking, but if you do get one make it a good one.

Maybe you have reasons to get a USB wireless device, but here is a good PCI card $25

WD Caviar Black is faster and less expensive $58 with promo code

A much faster DVD burner for just a couple dollars more:

Sorry, that pretty much shoots down the whole list.

Vegas or Premiere for Video Editing? Since gaming on the table and if Premiere:

Icrontic got excellent results X6 + MPE in CS5 Premiere and u dun have to deal with mobos that cost an arm and a leg hehe
A case for GPU computing: Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 and the Mercury Playback Engine
http://tech.icrontic.com/articles/reviews/a-case-for-gpu-computing-adobe-premiere-pro-cs5-and-the-mercury-playback-engine/
This project consists of compressed 640×480 video footage. These small video files were being eaten alive by the massive 1090T hexa-core processor and 8GB of RAM. Premiere Pro CS5′s increased performance with multi-core systems coupled with bleeding fast hardware will make fast work of any simple projects such as this, not giving the GPU enough work to really make a difference. These results do suggest that if you’re editing small-time video footage, you will not benefit much from using Mercury Playback.

Vegas for the most part strictly CPU bound software but since gaming on the cards...

Edit: This was suggested to a lady who wanted a small and cute system but if u only want ATX then make necessary changes hehe

I'd go with Proximon's suggestions. I think his component choices are generally of a higher quality. He left off a video card though, so I'd assume he found yours acceptable. I would; the one Batuchka listed will be louder, and I'm not sure Palit has as good a reputation. I'm considering a GPU upgrade myself, and that MSI Cyclone is on my short list as I want it to be quiet.
I'd probably use a Phenom II X4 955BE though; if there's enough in the budget, that CPU will be notably faster for some things, but the two more cores of the X6 won't make much difference.
