I'm buillding a new pc and need help debugging. I have an msi x870e motherboard, ryzen 9950x cpu, corsair vengence memory (2x32), nzxt kracken cooler. I had planned on running off integrated graphics for now (maybe that's my problem) and pick up a gpu later.

when i booted the system the first time, it when through the normal codes (seemded a couple dozen) and seemed to stop on 00. one problem is that nothing shows up on my monitor. it's connected through HDMI, so not sure if that's the issue. I could try through usb-c.

i've tried rebooting and it's been stuck on the 15 code for quite a while. the cooler reads 28 degrees C, which seems normal considering.

How do I track the problem? Just guesses at the problem: 1) need a gpu 2) corsair memory (was on MSI QLV) 6000 c30 3) bent pins in cpu socket 4) bad cpu.

Thanks!

Duane.

Just tried a few things, based on seeing another post where someone wasn't able to run two sticks of ram.

1) i reseated both sticks of ram. still stuck on 15 code.

2) i pulled out the second stick, it posted in a few seconds, and the monitor is working with integrated graphics.

3) i replaced the first stick with the stick i just pulled. posts in a few seconds with no issues.

4) i put both sticks back in. it posts with not problems.

i probably need to update the bios to be safe.

it's not unusual for what you did to work.

often getting it running on one stick, then the second added in. then finally setting any xmp profiles once it's running on both sticks.

don't know why it works but this is how i just do it from the start now to avoid the issue. updating the bios is not a bad idea on a new build. but i'd not bother with any beta versions. just grab the newest stable version.
