hi,
Just a quick question, i got 2 fan extenders and i was wondering if i just solder them together (each one to the corresponding wire) if that would work?

Kind regards

Solution
yea you can. I did the same in my case. I didn't have any Y Splitters for my fans. So i just made one. Got the end that plugs into the Motherboard, then got the two female ends and made it myself. Just match up the wire colors. usually they are Black, Red, and White (Sometimes yellow) if you are unsure of the colors just match it up with how the fan plugs into the power connectors on the motherboard or 4 Pin Molex Adapter what ever the case is you are using.

it won't short when i isolate the wires seperatly, will it? the thing i wory about is just that it would work or the fans would spin at wrong speeds with wrong voltages and amps and therefor it would fail and destroy the rest of my system as well...

If you got 2 extenders. And they are the same color wires YES you can just solder the wires together to make it one long cable without having to use a connector on them. Just make sure you use some Shrink tube or Electrical tap to cover the solder points up. and don't do it while its plugged in of course. The thing is if they aren't wired correctly the fan just won't run.

i tried and succeeded, the only thing is that my computer can't read the rpm of my fans, this is because i connected the wires for this fucntion as well and the computer can't handle double information... i considered clipping the one wire which gives the double information so the computer only gets information about one fan... but which wire is it?
