Build Advice Build Suggestion for $1800/1900 max (without case) ?

Hello everyone, I'm writing because I have around $1800 to spend on a full gaming PC.

I would use it exclusively for gaming, both for AAA titles (1440p), but I'd like to stay above 200fps in some competitive games (like Valorant and Apex, for example).

I would appreciate various suggestions. For the CPU and GPU, I was thinking of a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and a Radeon 6950XT/7900XT (currently priced at $749).

What do you think? I can't understand the real performance differences between these two cards. Could someone have the patience to recommend a full build? I'm sharing the one I've started here: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/XBW4dH.

If you think there are better alternatives than these CPUs/GPUs, please let me know. Any advice is welcome.

The Ryzen 7 7800X3D is the best of the best for gaming. Intel will occasionally take the lead, but it loses more often than it wins. I think the 7800X3D is a great choice.

For your cooling, I have that exact AIO and it's had zero issues for the nearly six years I've owned it. My only recommendation would be to grab the 360 version which can be found here. It's only twenty dollars more, and for the price you get extra room for heat dissipation, which will keep your chip cooler.

The MSI MAG Tomahawk is an outstanding board, especially for the price. 200 bucks nets you plenty of IO, WiFi 6E, and more. Solid pick.

I would change your current memory kit. Ryzen performance can be heavily kneecapped by kits with high latency, especially kits with First Word latency over ten milliseconds. The current kit you have has a CAS latency of 36, and a First Word latency of 12. Check out this kit as an alternative. It's very similar to your current set, but has a CAS latency of 30 and First Word latency of ten, which is right where we want it for our Ryzen to reach its full performance. Additionally, unlike your current kit, this one supports AMD Expo, meaning it was made specifically with Ryzen compatibility in mind.

I would stay away from the Samsung 990 Pro. 990 SSD's have had a history of terrible durability and reliability, some dying only a few months after purchase. The 980 Pro is not PCIe Gen 5, but it is still blazing fast and will be more than enough for an OS drive. You may be better off getting a hard drive for your game library. You might consider stepping your SSD down to one terabyte as strictly an OS drive, and then picking up something like the Seagate Barracuda 2TB for games. If you want something a little faster, you might want to look into the Seagate Firecuda or Samsung 870 Evo.

The 7900XT will generally outperform the 6950XT, and there really isn't any reason to grab the 6950XT with such a massive budget. For 150 dollars more, you're getting more video memory, newer and faster architecture with a more mature memory bus, and longer driver support. Stick with the 7900XT.

Corsair makes outstanding power supplies and you can't go wrong with them. Good choice. I noticed your list does not have a case; if you do not have one to recycle from a retired system, Corsiar, Cooler Master, and NZXT make great cases. There's lots of excellent brands out there, it just comes down to preference. Hope this helped, take care.

Here's the Intel version of that build. Low profile RAM so that it doesn't impede that dual tower cpu cooler.
