Hi,

I’m trying to build a system which supports multiple VMs and games like MapleStory 24/7.

As far as I know, VMWare doesn’t utilize a GPU, so I probably need a powerful cpu to handle the graphics.

I’m aiming for 8 cores, 64GB RAM, 500GB SSD.

I would appreciate any help regarding which hardware to buy.

Thanks for reading :).

OK...option #3...

Each VM will need:
4GB RAM minimum
Windows license (yes, each VM is an individual PC and needs its own OS license)

Graphics - This game does not appear to need a lot of GPU horsepower.
But playing games in a VM can be pretty substandard.
Instead of trying to build a whole system from scratch and not knowing how well that game works within a VM, just try it with a single VM in your current system.

If you find the graphics performance through a VM to be acceptable...then scale up for 4-6-8 instances.
Well threadripper is probably out then, especially with desired ram amount being like a 3rd of the budget.

Threadripper would put you out of budget. Even with going to 32gb ram. The motherboards are pricey, plus you have to buy aftermarket cooling for them. For an 8 core rig, a 2700x is a better bang for the buck. Threadripper would only allow for more ram, and access to higher core count CPU's.

You might have missunderstood me, I don't actually want to play them.. I wanna run Maplestory with VM's (around 4 guests) to let them do their thing.

I remain completely unclear as to what you're wanting to do.

A game server, hosting a Maplestory server, and other people and their systems connecting to it

or

A single box, with multiple monitor/keyboard/mouse, that several people can run at the same time (multiseat).

Simple, a system which runs multiple VMs (4-6 guests depends on the hardware) each guest runs Maplestory.
No one else involved, just me my current pc and another pc which I wanna build to run all those VMs.

Like a multi client, but not really.. since it violates the tos I suppose
