Hi there,

I'm looking to upgrade my current build to include a 2tb ssd and a second gtx 1080ti. I was hoping to get some advice as to whether my power supply/motherboard etc are adequate to support this. Completely out of my depth when it comes to hardware and hesitant to spend money before I know what i'm doing so any advice is very much appreciated.

Here is my build:

Intel Core i9-7690X Processor (22MB Cache, up to 4.2GHz)
MSI X299 SLI PLUS Motherboard
32 GB 2133MHz DDR4 HyperX FURY (4x 8GB)
Samsung 500GB 960 EVO NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD
Samsung 250GB 960 EVO NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD
Seasgate Barracuda 2TB Serial ATA Hard Drive
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti 11GB PCI Express Graphics
850 Watt 80 Plus Power Supply

Many thanks,
H

Ah for your needs you may actually be better off with 2x1080Ti (not actually using sli) but wait for someone more familiar with those uses to reply. Your psu is ok for either option.

Hi thanks for your response. My psu is a corsair TX-850M. I was looking into the 2080Ti but thought it seems very expensive at the moment. I'm using it exclusively for gpu rendering and 3d applications and had read that people thought that 2x 1080Ti's was a better option than one 2080. I'm afraid i'm not really aware of the limitations of sli or even really what sli is to be honest, would be great if you could shed some light on that for me.

Thanks!
