Fractal Design Define Nano S Zwart Window
€ 67,51 €
2xPWM Y-Cable Splitter
€ 3,27 €
Samsung U24E590 Zilver, Zwart
€ 372,50 €
Microsoft Windows 10 Home NL 64bit OEM

Is this build any good for 4k office use, he's looking to get at least 5 years out of it and wants very vast boot times, hence the m.2 ssd.

I am not sure wether the intel hd graphics can push 4k 60hz over hdmi 1.4 though, if not let me now which gpu to get.

Solution
1. You will find that a I3-6100 will perform better in an office environment.
It still has 4 threads, but the higher clock rate will prevail in most tasks. Cheaper too.

2. For a ITX case, you will need a ITX sized motherboard. Also for integrated graphics to run a 4k monitor at 60hz,
you need a better than average H170 or Z170 chipset.
30hz will not let you drag windows around smoothly.
Your best connection is displayport.
Here is one that should do the job:

3. A 240gb ssd is very good, it is the key to snappy performance.
500gb is not that expensive if you can manage that.
Unless you will store large files such as videos, there is no need for a hard drive; it is...
This is a very good build and will support 4K for your dad.

Mobo resolution support : 4096 x 2160 @ 24 Hz

Monitor resolution support: 3840x2160

You need high quality HDMI plus you DO NOT need a GPU.

BUT you are taking an ITX case which will not fit your mATX mobo. Make sure you mATX compatible case.

Anything else let us know here and we will help.

Oops, didn't notice that. Should i get a mini-itx motherboard (Asus H170I-Pro) with displayport or should I swap the case. Is mini-itx just as reliable as mATX?

EDIT: or do you know a stylish mATX case

Unless you will store large files such as videos, there is no need for a hard drive; it is easy to add one later.
I like the flexibility of conventional 2.5" format, but m.2 is ok.
Samsung 950 pro is the best, but truth to tell you will not notice the difference.
I have tried both.

4. the case comes with adequate fans, no extras are needed and will only add to noise.

5. The stock cooler is ok, but can get noisy under load. I would use a cryorig H7 with a 120mm fan for quiet.

6. Psu is excellent and sufficient.

7. ram kit is ok but
DDR4-2400 speed should cost no more and faster ram speeds up integrated graphics.

As to boot times, I find it better to use sleep to ram.
It is even faster and puts the pc in a very low power state. Sleep/wake will be 3-5 seconds.

Solution
Thank you very much, I will go with an ASUS h170i-pro(h170 only supports up to 2133mhz RAM), I am also going with the m.2 SSD because it doesnt require an extra cable. The i3-6100 will probably be sufficient, but the i5-6500 will last longer I think and money is not a real issue here. He can manage a 500gb SSD I think, in case I will drop the HDD. I personally run the stock cooler on the same processor and am not bothered with the noise, upgrades to a different cooler are always possible though.

Thanks a lot for your great advice

EDIT: about the i3-6100, for how many years will it be good CPU, and how large is the perfomance loss?

well you want 5 years out of it ... get the faster one ... and You need HDMI2.0 for 4K 60hz

Yes we discussed the resolution part, a mobo with displayport solves that. He is used to some old prebuild HP thing, which he is using since 2010. It has a 5400rpm HDD. The EVO also has 5 years of warranty, and remember, my dad is using it for office purposes, he's not a gamer/video editor. All he wants is a comfortable system with good boot times lasting him 5 years. I also found out he only has 120 gb used of his current HDD. Don't take this as rejecting your advice, I am merely questioning it. I still want thank you very much helping.

Check the SM951 NVME then it is cheaper in europe than 950 pro
