Hi GuysI am wanting to build a gaming PC, but cannot afford the intel price tags for the high end I5 and I7's. I am thinking of an AMD system. I have around £400 to spend on a motherboard, CPU and RAM. I would like to build as high spec as i can for that money.

Thanks

Neal

I already have the HDD and a 750W PSU and already have a tower case, graphics card and Blu ray drive. For the moment the £400 is just for the motherboard, RAM and motherboard. I will upgrade the graphics card etc later on.

CPU: AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core Processor (£127.00 @ Amazon UK)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler (£24.99 @ Amazon UK)
Motherboard: MSI 970 GAMING ATX AM3+ Motherboard (£74.99 @ Novatech)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2133 Memory (£57.78 @ Aria PC)
Total: £284.76

my set up... leaves more for gpu. I have over clocked cpu to 4.6 runs stable and cool... play all games on ultra 60 fps plus at 1080p. Arma 3 50-60 fps and arma is a tough game.

I know intel has better per core performance and multi threading. But this option left me near 100 quid extra to put into a gpu which does most of the leg work in games.

If you want to spend more go for a better motherboard. But this one does me fine

Plus I have a 650w psu by antec which cost me 50 English pounds.... still keeps you well within your 400 quid budget... just make sure the cpu cooler from cooler master fits your case it's pretty tall.... 159mm I think
