Building a rig, wondering about my video card

Recently I've ordered parts for a new rig i've been planning on putting together, and up to this point I had decided on going with this in SLI.

But over the last month or so I've begun to question it due to the new cards out, as well as the prospect of the new nvida cards coming out around July. The 9800 gtx doesn't seem like it's worth the extra cash for a marginal gain, although I could be wrong here.

So, even with the step-up program I'm stuck wondering if maybe I should simply get 1 8800GTS until the 9900 cards come out, or possibly just getting 1 9800 GTX until then. Really, the performance of the 9900 cards might not be a huge upgrade over the last two options, but I'm curious what others think

The 8800 GTS 512 would be really nice in SLI, I just want to make sure I spend my money wisely.

8800 GTS in SLI will be beastly. So im assuming you are going to be gaming on High resolutions. If not, then get just one 8800GTS and step up to the new cards when they come out. single 8800GTS alone will rip trough any current and upcoming games with breeze on 22"/24" screens. so if u gonna game on 30"+ then go for the 8800 GTS in SLI.

They are $210 after rebate now? where have I been? I just blinked and they are cheaper. I love how the 9800GTX came out and all the GTS's are coming down now. Anyways. I think a single GTS is enough unless you are gaming at higher than 1680X1050 resolution. I have once and everything can be cranked up. Although if you are gaming on Vista with DX10 2in SLI might be needed to keep everything cranked.

The mobo is a 780i
And I planned on using the dell 24" monitor and running at a resolution of 1920 x 1200

please, a 8800GTS G92 overclocked with the same speeds as a 9800GTX performs better than the 9800GTX, pathethic on the 9 series' part.

I was planning on using the 24" dell 2408 WFP LCD monitor, anyone have any experience with it or recommendations on other 24" monitors?

the DS is an IPS panel, but I've heard great things about the G2400W even though it is a TN. Big price difference, not sure if the TN would bug me much or not considering the only purpose of the rig is gaming and not photo editing.
