Those were the poster children of bad motherboard capacitors.

Just a random aside, i found these while just looking around on ebay, you can technically still build a brand new FM1 pc. It's not the most cost effective thing necessarily, but it would be all new parts with full XP support and a, iGPU that performs about as well as a 9600 GT or Radeon HD 3870. You can also find used FM1 combos cheaply.
