Hi, i need some advice on how to upgrade my PC.
I am not english, so sorry for my writing mistakes
thx in advance!

Parts to Upgrade: CPU, mobo, RAM and M.2 with 1TB(or better technology if it exists)

Do you need to buy OS: No

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: not preferred any

Location: I am writing from europe, i need to know the better parts and then i will try to find the best store for my location

Parts Preferences: I don't mind AMD or Intel, just in case one of these is best for my RTX 3080 i will choose that one

Overclocking: No, i only will do Overclocking if it can be done by softwae

SLI or Crossfire: I think not, i only have one RTX 3080 and won't buy another one

Your Monitor Resolution: 2K and another one 1080p

Additional Comments: i can expend about 1000 -1200 dollars, but i could increase a bit if it's worth the money.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: I want to recycle my PC for gaming and working, i usually work with 2-3 virtual machines at a time

You don't mention needing a CPU heatsink/cooler, so I assume you already have one.

What is it? It may limit your choice of suitable CPUs.
Hi!
Thx for help!

My current cooler is: Enermax Liqmax II 120S
I have been looking for a possible configuration but don't know if it has any issue or incompatibility, here it is:

* Intel i5-13400
* Asus Tuf gaming Z690 PLUS
* Samsung 990 PRO 1TB
* G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB DDR5 6400 Mhz 32GB

I think i don't need a M2 disipator, but not sure if i would have to buy one for this CPU

Just noticed that you are also working with virtual machines. If you want more cores between your VMs, just get the 7950X cpu with 16 cores.

The 13900 has 8 hyperthreaded performance cores and 16 single threaded efficiency cores.
Splitting them with VMs will put the win 11 thread scheduler into a frenzy, maybe...

That can work; I like the 13400.
One possibility to verify is that the initial Z690 motherboards did not have 13th gen support.
The enabling bios was released way back in June 2022 so any new stock should be fine.
I do not see any ability to update the bios without a cpu.
I think I might pick a motherboard with a 700 series chipset.
Since the 13400 can not be overclocked(nor would you want to even with a z processor) consider a B760 based motherboard.

Your current aio cooler will need a lga1700 adapter kit.
13400 will come with a suitable cooler that you might want to try first.
It is not an overly hot chip.
Since aio coolers do not last forever, I would buy a simple air cooler if you wanted to upgrade cooling.

Trident Z is excellent ram. But, you are paying more for the RGB "bling" and unnecessary fancy heat spreaders.

I think i will go for this, changing the 2x16GB vs 2x32GB and also changing the Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2 vs Samsung 990 pro 1TB SSD PCIe 4.0 NVMeM.2
