Hi everyone. So I'm getting back from a deployment with a few extra $$ in my pocket and I really want to build an elite gaming desktop. I don't want to say my max budget is $3k but that's the price range that this thing is looking like. I'm a dum dum when it comes to this kind of things, so all your input is much appreciated. Here's a list of what I've compiled so far... what should I add/ take away and what am I missing? all of this is from newegg.com

Solution
Another option is to go with a much lower system with room to expand if needed. Stepping down in a few places to get the price down considerably, while still maintaining most of the gaming experience at that resolution.
Basically a Full HD build instead of the 2560x1440.

How about something like this. Including a good 27" IPS monitor.
Still leaves a couple of hundred for a nice mechanical keyboard and a mouse.
Uses the same case as above, as well as the PSU as it is very nice.

In general getting a separate SSD and HDD will be the way to go, below a selection of about the best in both.

If there were 'good' Ultra HD monitors available at reasonable prices, you might also consider a DUAL 290X setup.
But as it is the above is much more energy efficient and at 2560x1440 it should be quite nice.

The SSD is twice the size for the same price although it's a little slower it's still an SSD and it will be uber fast. The case was a bit pricy and I put a cheaper but still really nice case in here if you really wanted the other one just change it back. psu was a bit overkill and this is still a very highly rated psu with lots of wattage. I just can't see the WD black drive benifiting you that much so I just put another SSD in it, this is much faster and only for the OS and a few programs that you use alot.

Solution
thanks for all your speedy responses. its obvious I have no idea what I am doing. In response to all of your responses, my plan is to make this 3D capable. I kind of want to stick to intel i7 cpu's and I really like the asus x99 motherboards. I plan to make the most of the clear window, so looks of each component will play a factor in what I purchase.
