Is Raid 5, or any Raid for that matter, really worth the money for a desktop PC. I'm a gamer and music downloader, and plan on bldg an Intel 4, 3.0+ gig hertz, with DDR2 memory and SCSI interface. Will raid really significantly speed up my processing time to the point of value-versus-cost? Opinions please.

Not really with today's fast drives. If you want a redundant array though RAID1 is a decent option.

RAID 5 is faster than RAID 1...in some areas...
RAID 5 is more complex, requireing a hardware controller...
3 drives min., verses 2 with RAID 1, and no additional controler...
