Hello tech people:),

I am looking to build a computer to play CS:GO and League of Legend (LOL) types of games. I don't want to have this crazy monster computer that will allow me to play games with high requirements costing me a fortune.

I don't have a precise budget but once I know the parts that will help me achieve my needs, I will shop for the best prices. I was thinking of shopping online at places like:

Newegg, Tiger Direct, Amazon, NCIX, Micro Center, etc.

I plan on using PC Part Picker to find good prices.

Investments I know I will do:

I will invest in a good aluminium case, no doubt about it, and a motherboard with enough slots to add memory cards when time comes.

How do you think I should build my computer?

Best Regards,

well... you have to have a roundabout budget in mind....

$400? $600? $800? less? more?

for a low budget you might want to think about spending less on the case (a good aluminum case can go for quite a pretty penny compared to other cases) and concentrate more on parts.

for about $700 you can get something like this.. its micro atx sized so it doesnt take up much room.

note: doesnt include OS.

it can handle CSGO and LOL with ease and should be future proof for a bit. its not going to play crysis 3 or other demanding games very well but you stated that you dont need anything like that anyways.

....you need to give us a baseline on where to start.

also you need to list if you need a monitor, windows os, peripherals, etcetera.

Helo ssddx,

It would be nice to have to spend less than 1000$.

As for OS, I will need to get a new one. What do you suggest for a gaming computer? Windows 7 professional?

I plan on using my Razor Lachesis mouse, my steelseries mouse pad, keep the old keyboard I have and my steelseries headset.

For the monitor, I currently have a good LG flat widescreen that will do the job I think.

As for the CPU, I think ill go with Intel (seems better than AMD). Should I buy the heatsink separately and buy an OEM cpu?

I also want to overclock my processor, hence I need a motherboard that needs to support this.

As for the case, what do you thik about a coolmaster (I plan on rebuilding my computer in it for a while)? and NVIDIA for gfx card?

since you mentioned $1000 or less you opened up quite a bit more options than you would have had at a lower budget.

windows 7 home premium or professional are fine.

using your old peripherals is fine. list the resolution of the monitor.

while true that intel currently holds the performance advantage over amd... they also command the price premium. for example you can build the system above which is overclockable for $100-150 less than a similar i5 system.

for $1000 though i would probably go with an i5 based build.

up to you if you want to go oem cpu but i i always buy mine retail. the only thing i buy oem are hard drives and dvd drives.

coolermaster what? they make lots of cases. do you have one now or are you buying one new? if you are buying something you have a few more options. personally i like some of the cases from corsair.

The resolution of my monitor goes from 800 x 600 to 1360 x 768 (widescreen).

i5 seems legit!

As for the case, yes I have to buy one.

What do you think?
