Building Gaming PC with old/new parts (trying to save)

hiya folks! so I've got some particular parts on hand and some that I'm planning on ordering from amazon. I basically got really anxious to start pc gaming again (laptop isn't cutting it) mainly that new xcom enemy within expansion and dark souls 2 that are reeling me in. I really want to use mods to so game consoles aren't going to do it for me.

I basically want to use what I have and what deals I can scrounge to get me gaming asap (reason why I'd like to stick with one retailer) for as little money possible...hehe...

My parts:

Memory: 2 sticks of 2gb RAM (GDDR2-800 2GB)
Storage: 500 Gb hard drive
Optical Drive: Don't really care, can't remember the last time I used one
Operating System: Windows 7 Key
Case: errr.....kind of ignorant on this one, I can always buy a new one if i need one. I believe that it's a mid size tower.

I would get way better ram. Its not a lot of it and yours is way out of date

okay so you need new ram because you have ddr2 and that board only supports ddr3 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231428 also you should get a new case because who know what kind of motherboard that was, you probably need different standoff screw on the motherboard tray for the new one. It's personal preference but i could give you a couple recommendations

take a look on newegg dyi computers you may for the same money get a whole system.

honestly, everything except the hard drive needs to be replaced. And actually if it isn't SATA then you'll need to replace it too.

Is your windows 7 retailer or oem. if it was oem, microsoft might not permit you to install that on a different computer.( essentially with a new motherboard that is)

Thanks guys, I think I'm going to have to scrap that plan all together. The DIY Combos's look interesting although I have no idea how to tell which one would work for me.

So I'm guessing the requirements are: Running Current gen games and being able to upgrade fairly cheap when i need be (although the 2nd criteria can be notched off if the price is good enough).

would I be right in assuming that these builds wouldn't be able to run games on them?

Windows 7 appears to retailer, I could be wrong though. Good thing to consider!
