Hello everyone,

I'm looking to build my first PC soon and was wondering if anyone can help me pick out some parts.

It will be used for a wide variety of things from gaming to hosting various servers for my home network (tftp, dns, etc).

So far, I'm only decided on what CPU I want to get.

The i7 4790k.

I'm leaning towards getting the Asus Maximus VII Hero for the MOBO.

Can anyone advise me on what memory, case, and GPU I should be looking at?

I'm leaning towards one of the GTX 970's or 980's for the GPU.

Hey ComputerSecurityGuy,

My budget is a little over $1000, but I could likely up that if I absolutely have to.

I'm thinking a skylake build might be a bit too much for me at current though, and I don't really feel the need to be that cutting edge.

I do want a build that can last me a little while, but I feel I should still be able to achieve that with DDR3 RAM and the 4790k. At least until I save up enough for my second build in the future. I will go a bit heavier on that one.

Although the fact that the build won't be quite as upgradable long term does worry me.
