Question Building my first PC ?

Hello everyone,

I'm seeking some guidance on selecting the appropriate CPU for my requirements. My primary use for the PC will be work-related tasks, including financial research, financial modeling, and running trading software. I'm leaning towards purchasing an AM5 CPU over an Intel CPU to keep my options open for future upgrades. Additionally, I need the CPU to support a 34-inch monitor with a resolution of 3440x1440 at 120Hz. I'm uncertain whether I should opt for a CPU with integrated graphics or if it's necessary to invest in a dedicated GPU. I'd prefer to minimize costs if it won't compromise my work efficiency. Thanks in advance for all the advice.

........."running trading software"........

I would assume that plenty of other people use that same software.

What do the developers of that software say about its hardware requirements?

I'd guess there are a lot of blogs, forums, and websites that are concerned with day trading..........what have you gleaned from those sites?

It may be that 4 or 6 cores are quite suitable for you or it may be that 20 cores are advantageous. Without further detail, I'm not sure we can help much.

Can you provide more detail?

I havent watched any reviews yet but the new ZEN 4 8700g may be exactly what you need ..

a decent b650e itx make sure it has the hdmi port in the back..

a inwin b1 case super small form factor comes with 200w psu included which is all you need for just a CPU.
and quite cheap too think about $139aud so not bad for a psu included small case !

Only some what downside is the case doesnt allow for a dedicated GPU

not sure if the 8700g comes with a included cooler but put a low profile noctua cooler or the wraith cooler on it. ( may need to do some measuring on the cooler height and case size to find the best cooler for what you need ) the Noctua L9x65 is low and should work a treat but it could be to high for the case ..

that will give you a super small form factor 8core 16 thread CPU with most likely the best integrated graphics ever put on a CPU

ive built a b550i 5600g in a inwin b1 case using the stock wraith stealth cooler and it works a treat as a work station / net surfer PC ..

The 8700g by its specs has a 780m igpu which is very good 8 core 16 thread all with a TDP of 65w so it should be super easy to cool too !!
