Hello

WOuld it be easier for me to build my own PC or upgrade an exisitng one?
Factors to consider
Time - No real time frame ( a month or two )
Difficulity - I have a fairly good knowledge of computers basics etc.
Cost - Don't want it to be too expensive

Solution
The i5 will cost you approximately 80EUR more than the i3, and the performance you may gain over may not be worth the extra money.
An i3 is more than sufficient for everyday use and light gaming, unless you're doing something CPU intensive such as advanced rendering or game streaming only then will the i5 be worth the extra cost.

For general use and light gaming 8GB is plenty, I own a gaming machine myself and memory usage usually never exeeds 6-7GB in heavy gaming.

Here's 2 builds with an i5 and i3, respectively. Also added a Wifi adapter.
