I am currently planning to build a new rig with the following hardware:

CPU - AMD FX-8350
MOBO - MSI 990FXA-GD65
GPU - Sapphire R9 270X 2GB DDR5 OC
RAM - Transcend 8GB DDR3 1600
Casing - Thermaltake VN900K1W2N Commander GS-II Black Win SECC
PSU - Thermaltake 550W Light
HDD - Toshiba 2TB SATA Desktop HDD
Monitor - Viewsonic VX2270s

Now my questions are as follows:

1. I am intending to use this PC for mainly three purposes: Gaming, Video Editing (Premiere+After Effect) and Audio Production (Sonar, Caubase). I've read enough discussions that suggest for gaming Intel almost always beats AMD Processors. But then again gaming mostly depends on GPU rather than CPU, That's why i am taking a high end GPU. Considering all sides, since I will be using it for both gaming and Audio/video works. I'm planning to go with AMD. Do you have any suggestion for or against my decision? (Please keep in mind that I can't go beyond the price range of FX-8350 for processor)

2. I've heard that FX-8350 consumes more power. So given this processor and GFX card model, is 550W PSU sufficient or do i need more power?

3. FX-8350 gets hot with more usage. Is the cooling system that comes with the Thermaltake Casing is good enough? Or should i get an additional Cooling system.

4. Is the Monitor that i've chosen good? In the website it shows that the contrast ratio of this monitor is 30,000,000:1. I have chosen this monitor over other Samsung or LG brands based on this specs mostly. Plus i've seen some viewsonic monitors that are too good to look at. So your opinion on this??

Please give me any opinion from your side. Any suggestion is expected.

Thank you very much.

GPU: R9 280x (270x isn't bad either considering the performance😛rice ratio)
CPU: I7, I've done HEAVY audio editing, and I have a lot of experience when it comes to audio editing. Sometimes things get messy and laggy with amd processors. The Intel handles processes much better when it comes to any type of production. As far as Macs go, they use the 32gb for production as well, but Windows still works. Depends how heavy you're into Video and Audio production.
I'm actually going to buy a PC awfully similar to yours, haha! Even the EXACT same GPU. I've been reading reviews and everything, and well, almost everyone told me to get this: RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 8GB (2x4GB) 1600mhz or 1866mhz and CL 9 (CAS Latency: how fast the RAM responds or is available to your PC). G.Skill Ripjaws is better than Kingston, Transcend, and sometimes even better than Corsair Vengeance. Look it up for yourself, it's just my humble opinion from what I've been reading and what I've been told 🙂 and the MOBO: I'll get an ASUS M5a97 (look it up!).
