Looking to build a new system that will last for several years. Last time I made some mistakes, so I want to make sure I have everything correct so I don't need to return things. I think this should be a good system, but I want to make sure everything would work together. I want it for gaming but I have 2 monitors and normally have a lot of windows open.

I guess I'm going with AMD this time, just because of the price and I read a lot of bad things about the i9. I don't know if they're all true or if they've been fixed, but just decided on this.

I mean if I will get the improvements and be worth upgrading, I can do that. But I don't think I can get that video card. It's out of stock on every website except Amazon and the price jumps from $700 on ASUS to $950 on Amazon.

I wasn't sure if my system was worth upgrading.

Yeah your current pc isn’t terrible by any stretch. The biggest thing holding you back on gaming is your gpu. So you may even start with a new psu and gpu and see how you feel. You could always update the bios and swap in the i7 later.

On gpu, are you totally sold on nvidia? I’m asking simply because the AMD rx 9070xt exists. I just picked one up at my local Microcenter for $699.99. The cheapest 5070ti was $824.99.

If memory serves, the 9070xt is 2-5% slower than the 5070ti, which given the price difference is a small number. Of course that is if you can find the 9070xt are a reasonable price. They seem to be more available than they were previously but places are still trying to overcharge.

If you have a Microcenter near you that is the best place to look. The one in my area I kept watching and they seemed to get a good shipment of the white AsRock steel legend in and I was able to get one. In fact the location near me has an open box unit now for $629.

https://www.microcenter.com/product...d-triple-fan-16gb-gddr6-pcie-50-graphics-card

This gives you an idea the performance difference. Plus some folks have been complaining about nvidia drivers this go around, though no doubt they’ll get it fixed.

I could get either card. I'm mainly worried about making sure it has 16GB because 8GB on my current card is causing some issues, I think.

I was only able to find the rx 9070xt on Amazon and for $1,000. If that's the price I get stuck with, I might as well just go for the NVIDIA. It doesn't seem like Amazon sells the AMD card for some reason, they only sell the NVIDIA card, and I won't buy PC parts from a 3rd party seller. Even if the price is right, I don't trust them. Too many reviews of sellers from China selling fake parts or used parts and passing them off as new.

If the items aren't shipped and sold by Amazon, I'm not buying them.

I'll look around and see if I can find the rx 9070xt on another reputable website, otherwise, I guess I'll just try to NVIDIA.

Also wondering who makes good fans now. All I found on Amazon were Chinese knockoffs, and 6 of the 10 fans I bought burned out within a year. One by one they started making a horrible screeching sound.

I usually look for big brand names when I buy stuff, even though the price is more. I'm not buying from BIGSuperYES! again, lmao.

As far as fans, noctua are some of the best. Corsair of course among others. Could also have a look for Thermalright fans. They make great budget cpu coolers so I’d imagine their fans are decent.

I agree with you however on the gpu. If the prices are the same get the nvidia card. They should be pretty close in performance if you do find a 9070xt closer to msrp that could be a good deal. Not knowing what area you’re in, definitely hit up microcenter.com and see if there’s one near you. If so they seem like they keep a steady stream of stuff coming in. Sometimes for hot cards like the 9070xt you may have to sit and wait to try to snipe a deal when they have a shipment come in, but they seem like they have been getting more of them since launch. I wonder if AMD didn’t realize they would have this much demand for them or if they were simply constrained on the supply side and couldn’t get enough of them out quickly enough.

What case do you have?

And the OP's (4x16GB) DDR5 4800MHz CL40 RAM which is about as slow as molasses.

What resolution are you gaming at?

This would be my take based on your parts list and budget. An X3D CPU is much better for your use case. I added a more practical storage setup. The smaller fast 8100 drive for the OS and applications, and the 8tb drive for games and mass storage. I added a better motherboard and CPU cooler.

I believe there is a 5080 Super in our future, so you might want to wait a bit.
