Question Building PC for Video and Graphic Design 2024 with 14900k

I’m currently building a PC for my workstation. My main goals are to have a system that is reliable, fast, and future-proof. The primary workload will focus on video editing and graphic design (e.g., Photoshop, After Effects, etc.).

Video apps love OpenCL/GL power and benefit from faster graphics cards, but your wallet suffers as a result. Photoshop is less demanding. If video is you main involvement, buy the fastest NVidia GPU you can afford.

I'm thinking of upgrading my RTX 3060 12GB to an RTX 4070 12GB in a 2-year old 7950X to speed up Topaz Video AI. What I really need is a 4090 or an A6000, but I'm not prepared to spend that much cash.

My main goals are to have a system that is reliable, fast, and future-proof.

You can but live in hope your latest system will be 'futureproof', but advances in software demand ever faster GPUs and CPUs.

I upgrade individual components periodically and build a completely new computer every 4 to 5 years. I have much older systems but they're totally inadequate for 4K video work. At 480p and 720p they're still OK and can handle Photoshop CS6 with ease.
