Built a new pc

Hey I just built a new gaming pc. This is my very first build that I have done. I have a asus z170-a motherboard with a gtx 1060 6gb gpu i5-6600k processor with a 750m psu. I have everything in and ready to go but only 1 problem. My system won't boot up if I have my gpu in. I take my gpu out and it boots up right to the bios right away. I have been stuck as to what it can be for a few hours. Any help would be huge.

When you have your GPU in and hit the power button do you get any activity, i.e does it sound like it is booting but you just don't have anything on screen? Or is it just not doing anything?
What is the model of your power supply?

Plug your monitor into the graphics card's display ports, not the display ports on the motherboard.
