I have a Lenovo y700 Laptop that I've had for about a year now. Everything works fine about it even while gaming other than the fact that about 3 months ago, my keyboard started to randomly quit out on me. This is the inline keyboard that comes with the laptop.

I have tried shutting my computer down and restarting it but when I do that, it takes a really long time and eventually errors out and goes to the BIOS menu (weird right?). The only problem here is that when in the BIOS, you can only use the keyboard to navigate which doesn't work even in the BIOS. If I do a hard shutdown by holding the power button down, it shuts down and starts back up no problem. However, I don't want to keep doing a hard restart every time this happens.

The problem used to happen about once a month and gradually has increased to about once a day or two. I have looked into driver issues but I have uninstalled and reinstalled the keyboard drivers so I have no idea what it could be. If anyone knows anything about this, please please let me know!

Try updating the BIOS and see if that helps. If you are still under warranty I would call Lenovo up and see what they say about replacing the keyboard. I am not familiar with Lenovo's warranty, but they should either offer to ship you a keyboard that you can install yourself or you will be asked to send your laptop into the depot.

Have you had any luck with any solutions beyond sending it in for replacement? I'm having the exact same issue. Would randomly happen occasionally...4-5 times today.

I have the exact same problem - I dont know if it started after updating to the Dec 2016 Bios or after I downloaded and Installed World of Tanks - but the problem is VERY annoying. If you find a fix please let me know. Lenovo y-700 touch.

Just click on the battery icon, click power & sleep settings and then additional power settings, there you should be able to select High performance. Hope this helps i am really surprised that this fixed it for me, it seems like a very weird solution.
