Hey so I'm looking for some help! I just build a new pc and if I have my ssd plugged in to the power supply and try to boot the computer the fans come on and spin for half a second and then the computer shuts down and to get it to do that again you have to flip the power switch on the psu twice. Also it runs fine with just the normal hard drive in so I put windows on that because I didn't really see another options I'd also love to move the OS system (windows 10) to the SSD if I get the chance. Here's the specs!

Easiest way (and best) way is to unplug your hard drive, plug in your SSD, install windows, plug hard drive back up, go into bios ensure the ssd is set higher than hard drive in boot priority, then wipe the os portion of the hard drive and enjoy
Did you have both the SSD and HDD plugged in when you tried to install Windows? That may have caused some install issues. Here's what I would try:
1. Disconnect the SATA cable from the HDD.
2. Connect the SSD (both power and SATA)
3. Plug in your Windows thumb drive into a USB port.
4. Power up and immediately go into bios and set the USB drive as bootable. Exit bios.
5. Hopefully, you should get the Windows installation window and be able to select the SSD for Windows installation.
6. After Windows installation, power down. Remove the Windows thumb drive. Then, power back up. Immediately go into bios and select the SSD as the boot drive.
7. Update Windows, install mobo drivers, GPU drivers, software programs, etc.
8. If everything is working off of the SSD correctly, then reconnect the HDD.

Alright in a little bit when I get home I'll go through some of the fixes and let you know. When I installed windows I just had the hdd in since it wouldn't boot up for more than a second with the ssd plugged in.

Ok so good news! Switching sata ports on the mobo got it to fire up! I feel stupid not trying that sooner. Anyways so my question is I already had windows installed on the hdd. So do I just start the computer with just the ssd plugged in and install windows on it? Do I need to do anything to the hard drive to wipe it or anything? This is new territory for me here so I'm being cautious and asking questions! Thanks for the help. You guys are the bomb
