Bulldozer?

I was looking at the AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE which I can get on Newegg for $129.99. I was wondering if waiting for bulldozer would be worth it, or just going with Phenom II. So, I have a few questions, so here they are:

When will Bulldozer come release?
How much would Bulldozer probably cost?
Which CPU should probably be good? (e.g. the 4-core, 6-core, 8-core)
What is the inverse hyperthreading people are talking about?
Which socket will it use? (I am pretty sure it will use AM3+, but I am not sure)
Will a Bulldozer CPU come at a price of $129.99 and be as good as a AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE?

I am pretty eager for bulldozer, but I am not sure if I should wait or or grab something now.

Thanks in advance! 😉

Dude, don't get so caught up on the dedicated encode/decode. If your application does not use Quick Sync, it doesn't make use of the Quick Sync ASIC.

For example, my video encoding is done with Avisynth. Everything in my processing chain is based on raw CPU power. Load Source -> Deinterlace -> Encode with x264. All of that is CPU, nothing Quick Sync related, so no usage of dedicated encode/decode. So for my case at least, Sandy Bridge is much better than Nehalem, but because of it's superior architecture, and not dedicated HW encode/decode.

Umm what? This is what pricing is shaping up to look like.

8 core FX8130P - 339.00
8 core FX8110 - 289.00
6 core FX6110 - 239.00
4 core FX4110 - 189.00
Clock speeds, please?

If that's the pricing, I'll be very happy. I thought I saw $700 for the high end model on some leaked AMD slide or something. I was like "gee, no thanks. I'll wait."

BTW, I go for clock speed first, then core count. It's all about your workload and most workloads are still 1-2 threads.

If BD costs more than SB and have equal or lesser performance, the fact will be plain and simple, I will not get it. To purchase an inferior product that costs more is fanboy fanaticism. I am just stating that my Athlon II X4 has more performance than I ever use the damn thing for and I got it at $99.99!!! Also a big plus for AMD are the cheap mobos.

Why is it that almost everyone who saw that slide missed these two words, "System Price"? I mean come on, it's not even small print...

While this thread is definitely off the original topic and truly even a solid release date cannot be counted upon since AMD keeps changing it and pushing it back, which could and probably will happen again.

Arguing over paper released information with the actual hardware MIA, is total speculation, until Bulldozer is actually hardware in hand to be tested and compared all this bantering is a waste of time and totals up to miss information.

There is no solid numbers to compare until Bulldozer is actually officially on test benches.

These threads are not going to be allowed to reach some sizes compared to the past, now when there are official released numbers to compare, as long as you keep them civil, and on topic they can continue.

Participation in these type new release threads usually always result in frustrated attempts trying to get your point across, make sure you do it without insulting others, try at least to respond like you were talking to each other face to face.

Purposely misspelled cuss words and insults can get through the filter, but not by the moderation team, in a heated moment, your post will simply disappear, (as a Warning you're going too far), if you continue that behavior we will take direct action against you, and you will not like it.

Worst case scenario, will get you permanently banned from THGF, so treat each other with respect and enjoy your time here. Ryan
