This isn't Bungie's first cross-platform game at all; Myth 2 was released a dual-format CD that contained the installers for both Windows and Mac....

Wow, that was around 1999. That was BEFORE bungie was acquired by the borg (MS) when they were the premier Mac gaming company. Myth was a windows second, mac first game. Mac had better graphics in games up til about that point. Thats when directx finally caught WIndows up to Mac, and the falling of Mac from gamers top choice. Either way, this ain't windows 98SE any more. Modern games have moved on past Sprites.

"Destiny connects to a virtual world that extends to multiple platforms."
Translation: PC gamers were slaughtering the console kiddies in cross platform play so we are going to pretend it's "too hard" to implement.(pro-tip: it's not difficult at all)

So console gamers don't want it and PC gamers certainly have no desire to play online with a bunch of poorly supervised hate spewing racist juveniles soooo.... I guess they ARE doing the right thing.

I think what is likely relatively easy is making a game run on PC. But porting a game to the PC isn't simply making it capable of running on the PC. There is even more then adding all the options that PC FPS players have come to respect. I don't think the fear of PC gamers destroying Console gamers is even that pravalent, especially with matchmaking being able to fit players with similar skillsets together. There is designing the game to be demanding and skillful with the inputs and skillsets common in both Console and PC FPS gaming. There isn't really any shooter that has run well on PC and console when you think of it. There is no shooter that is highly regarded in both hardcore PC and Console shooter communities. And shooter communities can still respect other shooters with different skill sets, so that isn't the reason. Quake and CS players respect each other even though they play very differently. Quake and CS players don't respect CoD or Battlefield. CS and TF2 were made for the console and were pretty unsuccessful. No one has bridged that gap and saying oh, its easy for Bungie to make Destiny a good game on the PC is rubbish. It would likely take a shit ton of work and probably isn't worth it.
