First off let me apologize I don't know if this goes here, and I am a novice at best with building computers.

My computer no longer starts. It has been acting strange for the last couple weeks. I kept thinking my wife or kids were shutting it off.

"Quit turning off my computer" I told the wife and son who looked at me confused. 2 weeks ago I came back to my computer after a few hours of it idling
It said something about about about a power surge. Wish I would have paid better attention but I didn't

We had no power outages or electrical events in the past couple months.

I tried diagnosing by pulling everything from the mobo which has light, except for the 1 ram stick. Hitting the power button on the front of mobo doesn't do anything.

Am I stuck replacing everything?
Thank you folks

No idea what you may have without a list of main parts.

Sorry again, wasn't exactly sure what to post.
My rig was built in 2015. All the parts are the same.
It's got a Asus Maximus vi lga 1150
Intel i7 4790k
Corsair rm750 old (rm850 is what I bought 2 days ago and replaced hoping it was the PSU, but still won't start)

Corsair hydro series h80
250 gb SSD
1tb hd

Running windows 11.
Was playing fo76 before it started resetting itself. It never reset when I was in game.

leaving the computer on I would run errands and come back to it off.

Case fans, or any of the fans dont start either.
Whatever further info you need please let me know.

I slowly took it all apart disconnecting everything from the mobo and inspecting. I see no burn spots or damaged capacitors but where the CPU sits it smells of burning hair. I doubt that's normal but I don't know.

Is there a way to see if my HD is fried? I have no other computer with sata, unless it's possible to check with a laptop

Thank you

it's possible to check with a laptop
Buy a USB housing suitable for a 3.5in hard disk (assuming that's what's inside your PC).

Put the drive into the housing. Plug the 12V DC brick into an outlet.

Connect the USB lead to the laptop and see what happens.
