Well I finally sold my R9 390 a couple weeks ago for $200. And I’m temporarily gaming on my gtx 1060 6gb laptop so I’m not down a PC

What you guys opinion on getting a 1070 for $399 Black Friday. Or wait until hopefully next gen Volta equivalent (2070/1170?). I know the rumors were end of this year but that’s almost over so I’m guessing spring next year is the best bet.

I think the mining craze is over next gen releases should see little price gouging

That is several months in the future. You can't buy future products If you need faster today, then get it today. My 980ti is beaten by the 1070ti but my 980ti is still getting me what I want at 1440p/max settings. My point there is, if the 1070ti gets you what you need, who cares what the 2070 does...

If I had a 1060 6b, I would not be interested in a 1070. That would be a lot of money for a relatively minor upgrade.

IF the 1060 6gb is NOT working for you (not getting you the frames you want), I would consider spending 70 more for a 1070TI.

IF the 1060 6gb is working for you (getting you the frames you want), then why upgrade at all?

The video cards will come down in price eventually, there is a finite demand for them by the miners, and once this is met or production is adjusted to maintain this level the prices will go the way they normally do.

They will all be obsolete some day. Buying a card that is only 5% or so faster won't really defer that very much,

The 1060 does just ok. I mainly overwatch but just got a 1080p 144hz monitor and I’m having to drop down to mid (high selection) graphics to maintain 144hz with dips in firefights.

So I need to get my desktop back up anyway. I didn’t want to just get another 1060 m, but to your point. If I bumped up to a 1070ti, what’s the likely hood of a next gen 1070 (2070) matching that in performance but being cheaper?
Thanks again guys

Care when you are trying to solve some problem.
