I recently had a problem with my pc randomly shutting down ( http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2787051/randomly-shuts-restarts.html ) This happened again this morning and I think it has corrupted some files on my pc because the pc settings on windows 8.1 no longer opens when I click on it, and the windows 8.1 search doesn't find any of my files or programs.
I bought my pc about a year ago off ebay and I don't have the code to activate it, so to try and fix my problems before buying a new graphics card. I am thinking of upgrading to windows 10. would it be a better option for me to buy a windows 8.1 activation code and then upgrade to windows 10, or to buy windows 10 and install it directly.
It says on my desktop that I am running windows 8.1 pro build 9600. If I want to activate windows 8.1 but want to pay for the normal version not the pro version, would I have to reinstall windows 8.1 anyway?
