Is 144+Hz really... really worth it? I'm not a competitive gamer. I am a true filthy casual. But I like my pixels to looks as flawlessly pretty as possible, on a tight budget.

I've got about $350-$400 (US). I want a 27" 1440p, just having a hard time on the whole 60hz vs 144hz/165hz. They look nice in the store, but I don't want to experience buyer's remorse, or sore eyes, after a couple of days. I suffer motion sickness while playing FPS's and I've read/watched people stating that 144hz helps with it.

My system is Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB RAM-3200, RTX 2060, 970 Evo nvme m.2, and like 3 mechanical 2+TB HD's.

Edit:
I mostly play World of Warcraft, No Man's sky, FFXIV, SWTOR, Elite Dangerous, Ashes, Overwatch, COD, Assassin's Creed series, The Witcher series and some others. Nothing really demanding.

I think the big thing for me would be hdr 600. 144 hz is worth it in the sense you don't need to worry about adaptive sync. I get motion sickness as well. Usually that is caused by low/inconsistent frame rates. I have not had motion sickness with a 60hz freesync monitor. Using a nVidia card, it's probably better to get a high refresh rate monitor than a gsync monitor due to the price premium.

It’s a tough choice. I really notice the difference between 1080p vs 1440p and 60Hz vs 144Hz. I cannot see me ever buying a new monitor below 1440p 144Hz now I am used to it. As the monitor will last you many systems I would recommend paying the extra and going 1440p 144Hz if you can.
